Nuneaton Town Community FC support the troops

This week end Nuneaton Town Community FC were at The first team game collecting money for the Army Benevolent fund. After the news that Fusilier Louis Carter 18 from Nuneaton, L/Cpl James Fullarton 25 from Coventry and Sgt Simon Valentine 29 from Bedworth were Killed in Action in Afghanistan if was felt buy the Community Executive committee that we should be do what we can to support our troops abroad and the families that are left behind. Both Chairman Ian Brown and Ian Neale from Community and Senior Clubs started the collection at the main turnstiles. Members of the Ladies teams them continued to collect money from the rest of the game with the help of the Under 11’s at half time.
The community club promoter said “As an ex-serviceman I served through the first Gulf War, there has always been a lack of support not only for the troops serving abroad but the families that are left behind worrying about there loved ones. As a community club we felt that we should be doing what we can to help. We would also like to thank the Ladies and the Under 11's for there efforts in collecting the money.”

The Army Benevolent fund was chosen because the money that we raise will be going to the families of fallen troops from the local area. It’s a great organisation and one that the community club support fully.
At Saturdays game against Oxford City The community Club walked around the crowd with buckets asking for any spare change. The supporters showed great compassion and gave over £400. We will be at the game on Bank Holiday Monday with the buckets again. We also have team/club photos on Thursday night and we are hoping that the parents and player with be just as generous.
We would like to thank everyone that has donated
