Town start off their campaign with a trip to Step 3 side Stratford Town who finished 11th in the Southern League Premier Central on 61 points meaning they are sure to provide a good test for us. A key player for ‘The Bards’ during that season was striker Owen James who scored 13 league goals. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs since Nuneaton reformed in 2024.
Next we will play hosts to Hinckley AFC as they travel to The Oval for our first home fixture. ‘The Knitters’ amassed a total of 50 points during the 2025/26 season placing them 11th in the GCE United Counties League Premier South. During our meetings last season Nuneaton ran out 3-1 winners in the home clash in October thanks to an own goal alongside strikes from Callum Carsley and Danico Johnson in front of 802 fans Hinckley’s only goal came through Lewis Rankin in the 89th minute. In the reverse tie, Nuneaton were victorious 3-1 with first half goals from James Harrison and Eesa Sawyers with an injury time goal from Chandler Pegg just before half time being the only response from the hosts before Callum Carsley scored late on in the second half to seal the win. Key players for Hinckley AFC last season included former Nuneaton players Louis Baker, Alex Lock, Chandler Pegg and James Spruce.
Our third fixture is bound to be another tough test as we welcome the players and staff of AFC Telford. Nuneaton legends Kevin Wilkin and Mark Noon are part of the management team while other notable inclusions consist of Jordan Cranston and Matt Stenson who all wore the Nuneaton badge during our previous incarnations, and new signing James Armson could face his former club. These two sides are yet to meet since we reformed in 2024.
An away trip to Sutton United on a Tuesday night tips us over the halfway mark of our preseason campaign. A third place finish was achieved by United with 86 points from 40 games. Their league season was capped off with a 2-1 win away to Gornal Athletic in the playoff final which saw them promoted to Step 5. Perry Cotton, Lewis Hayden and Jake Lamb were members of Sutton’s 25/26 squad who have previously played for Nuneaton with Hayden and Lamb being part of the team who won Step 6 whilst Perry Cotton spent some time with our previous incarnation in the 2020/21 season.
A trip to Northampton Shelby Rangers is up next. Nuneaton won 4-0 and 3-0 during our two meetings in the 2025/26 league campaign with the latter being the win that secured the league title. Rangers finished in 17th with 32 points allowing them to survive relegation and remain at Step 5.
Our penultimate fixture is our third away trip on the bounce as well as our final planned away friendly. We head to Step 6 side Lutterworth Athletic who finished in 11th place with 44 points in the Capelli Midland League Division One. We met Lutterworth Athletic twice in competitive fixtures during 2024/25 with Nuneaton winning the home fixture 1-0 thanks to a goal from Sahel Yessen in the fourth minute. The result in the away meeting was quite different however as a rampant Town ran out 7-1 winners with goals from Corey Currithers, Stuart Hendrie, Danico Johnson, Harry Jackson, Aaron Williams and two from Loyiso Recci.
Finally, we welcome Coalville Town to The Oval for one final test before the 2026/27 season gets underway. The previous meeting between the two sides saw Coalville victorious beating us 5-1 at The Oval in the United Counties League Knockout Cup semi-final with Kyle Jardine scoring our only goal of the tie.
