Nuneaton Town return to league cup action on Saturday and host Coventry United at the Oval. After a run of four games away from the Oval, Town will be looking forward to returning to familiar surroundings. Town beat Dronfield FC 5-3 on penalties in the previous round whilst United beat Southwell City 2-0 away from home. While Town are top of the UCL Premier South, United sit in 8th place. Away from home in league, United have picked up 1 loss, 4 draws and 3 wins, whereas at the Oval, Town have only had one defeat at the Oval all season against Dudley in the Birmingham Senior Cup. The danger men for United are prolific local non league striker Ryan Harkin and forward Cameron Dunn. It is shaping up to be a tough test for Town as United have a squad packed of experienced players such as former Nuneaton Borough players Gift Mussa and Chris Cox.

History:

Established in 2013 as a protest to Coventry City having to play in Northampton, having taken over Coventry Spartans, United have gone from strength to strength in that time. Earning 3 straight promotions in their first 3 seasons to reach Step 5, they played at several grounds in that time including the Alan Higgs Centre, and Sphinx Drive, and moved to the Butts Park Arena, home of Coventry Rugby Club, in 2017.

United have settled into life in Step 5 and were, until Sphinx were promoted to Step 4, Coventry's top non league team. Current Nuneaton Town joint managers Darren Acton and Russell Dodd were briefly managers of Coventry United from November 2021 until the end of the year.
