After an unbeaten January and February, Nuneaton Town hope to start a critical March on the front foot as they take on Daventry Town at The Oval on Saturday afternoon.

It has been a blistering start to 2026 for the blue and white stripes as bar a blip draw at Lutterworth, they have blown away every side they have faced. They sit just 11 points from the title after opening up a 22 point lead at the top since Christmas, helped by weather affected postponements for others below them.

However with 5 other sides still mathematically in the title race, and 3 of them to play in the final 7 games of the season for Town, they know the task is not yet done, and 3 points is a must on Saturday afternoon, against a side that started the season excellently before going on a long winless run that saw them slide them down the table.

Daventry Town sit in 15th with 9 wins, 4 draws and 14 defeats. 4 of those wins were in the first 4 games of the season, and one was handed to them by the league on forfeit. It took until November to win on the pitch once again. Despite picking up a bit of form since Christmas they have lost their last 3, including Tuesday night's home defeat to Coventry United (2-0). They have picked up just 3 wins on the road, at Northampton Sileby Rangers, Aylestone Park and Godmanchester Rovers, but still have 8 away games to play out of their 11 remaining games.

Their long throw specialist Lewis Burgess is no longer at the club having signed for St Neot's Town. Burgess was a nightmare to deal with last time the sides met in October, where 2 goals from top scorer Nathan Burrows, now at Newport Pagnell Town, threatened to send the away fans home disappointed, however goals from Eesa Sawyers, Declan Somel and James Harrison completed a comeback to send Nuneaton home with the 3 points. Nuneaton will hope for a less dramatic game on Saturday.
