After crashing out of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday night to Dudley Town, Nuneaton Town will be looking to reignite their trophy hunt as they make the journey to north Derbyshire to face Dronfield Town.
United Counties Division 1 side Dronfield Town sit in 12th place with 6 wins, 1 draw and 6 defeats. Since beating Blackstones on penalties to reach the 1st Round, they've suffered 3 defeats, two of them heavy defeats of 7-1 to Retford United and 4-0 to Rossington Main, but secured a narrow victory 2-1 away at Gedling Miners Welfare last time out. This is Dronfield's first home game since the last round of the cup.
Nuneaton Town reached this stage by beating Godmanchester Rovers at Yaxley, with goals from Luke Jones and Stuart Hendrie.
Storm Amy looks set to bring 50mph winds and wet weather to the fixture, so it looks set to be an interesting game if it goes ahead.
History:
There have been multiple Dronfield Town's that have folded, first one being in 1898. This version of the club was created a century later in 1998, originally called Dronfield Cavaliers before changing to Dronfield Town in 2001.
They made their way through the Hope Valley leagues to reach the Central Midlands League in 2009. They reached the Northern Counties East League in 2013 and were transferred to the United Counties League Division 1 for this season due to boundary movements.
Dronfield, although in a different county to Sheffield, is actually home to the world's oldest football club Sheffield FC formed in 1857 who play to the north end of the town in the Home of Football Stadium.
