Nuneaton Town get back to their league campaign on Wednesday after their dramatic win in the FA Vase on Saturday. And it is a very rare Wednesday night game and a just as rare 7:30pm kick off as they travel to Easington Sports.
The Banbury based side are 19th in the league of 20 teams, with 2 wins, 3 draws and 8 defeats from 13 games and have the leakiest defence in the division, having conceded 43 goals, although 30 of those have been away, where interestingly both of those wins have come. They have only conceded 13 at home but have yet to win there.
Last time out Easington Sports we're knocked out the FA Vase 3-0 by Sherwood Colliery at home on Saturday afternoon, their last league game ended in an entertaining 5-3 defeat at Histon.
Nuneaton Town secured a place in the second round draw with a thrilling win over Stafford Town on penalties after Kyle Jardine equalised deep into stoppage time. In the last league game Nuneaton kept their unbeaten start going with a 3-1 win over local rivals Hinckley.
With no midweek game for Aylestone Park, Nuneaton will look to win an 11th game in 14 and extend the lead to 7 points at the top of the table.
History:
'The Clan' were formed in 1946, initially joining the Oxfordshire Junior League. Joining the Senior League in the late 50s, they progressed to the Hellenic League in 1971, where they remained until transferring to the United Counties League in 2021.
Easington Sports played on farmland near Wykham Lake initially before moving to Addison Road. A 50 seat stand was erected in 2016, with floodlights following in 2017, allowing entry into the FA Vase. Their run to the first round this season is their best so far. Their best run in the FA Cup is the first qualifying round on 2 occasions, whilst a record home attendance was 305 against Banbury United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup in 2018.
