Nuneaton Town return to The Oval for their first home preseason game on Tuesday night against local rivals Hinckley AFC.

Town opened their preseason account on Saturday afternoon with an impressive 2-1 win against Southern League Premier Division Central side Stratford Town, with a smart finish from a trialist striker, and a wonderful curled effort from Eesa Sawyers cancelling out Stratford's first half goal.

Nuneaton will be looking to continue their preparations for Step 4 as they face Hinckley, who are due to switch to the United Counties Premier Division North this coming season due to geographical adjustments, where they will face the world's oldest club Sheffield FC amongst several other new opponents.

Nuneaton Town and Hinckley locked horns twice last season, rekindling old rivalries between Nuneaton Borough and Hinckley United once again. Back in October 2025, Danico Johnson, Callum Carsley and a Lucinee Donzo own goal secured a 3-1 win for Town, before they completed the double in January, with goals from James Harrison and Eesa Sawyers securing a 2-1 win despite former Nuneaton man Chandler Pegg giving Hinckley hope.

Hinckley ended up 11th in the United Counties League Premier South last season with Nuneaton of course champions. Hinckley will be looking for a better campaign this time around.
