Nuneaton Town are back on the road again on Saturday as they make the short journey to north-east Leicester looking to extend their perfect league start to five matches.

A hard fought 2-1 comeback victory in front of over 1200 fans on Tuesday away at Atherstone Town sent Nuneaton top of the table with 12 points out of 12, three clear of the chasing pack at this early stage of the season.

Another tough game is expected as Leicester Nirvana sit 4th in the table with an unbeaten start themselves, 2 wins and 2 draws. The most recent of those victories was on Tuesday as they handed previous early leaders Moulton their first dropped points this season in a 2-0 defeat.

History:

Leicester Nirvana were formed in 2008 as a merger between Thurnby Rangers and Leicester Nirvana, initially becoming Thurnby Nirvana before taking the Leicester name back in 2015.

Thurnby Rangers initially started out as a Sunday League side in the 80s, playing at Dakyn Road, before switching to Saturday football in 1993, playing mainly in the Leicestershire Senior League.

FC Nirvana were formed in the mid 80s, playing at Victoria Park, becoming Leicester Nirvana in 1989. After playing in the Central Midlands League for a few seasons they resigned and became a youth team in 1992.

Since the merger, they have earned two promotions to be at Step 5 and have been league runners up twice in 2013-14 and 2015-16. They play at the upgraded FC Nirvanas ground now named Hamilton Park.

Previous meetings - None

Last season finishing position - United Counties League Premier South (10th)

Directions from Nuneaton town centre:

Take the A47 to the A5 south via the Long Shoot, on reaching the junction with the M69 head north on it towards Leicester. At the end of the M69 take the exit onto the M1 north, then take the first exit onto the A47 towards Leicester North/Newark. After 2.5 miles take the exit onto the A5630 turning right towards Beaumont Leys. At the second roundabout turn left onto the A563. Follow the A563 for around four miles. At the Hamilton roundabout (petrol station and KFC), take the second exit onto Sandhills Avenue (signposted Hamilton West). Go straight on at the first roundabout and at the second turn left into the ground.

Public transport:

Trains run from Nuneaton to Leicester at 24 and 51 minutes past the hour, taking just under half an hour. Walk to Haymarket Bus Station and the 58A bus at 13:40 or 14:10 takes you to Sandhills Avenue in around 18 minutes.

On return the 58 bus (not 58A as it is slower) leaves outside the ground at 17:24, taking 18 minutes. The 18:18 train from Leicester then arrives in Nuneaton at 18:44.
