Nuneaton Town are back at home on Saturday afternoon as they play Leicester Nirvana in the United Counties Premier South, looking to continue a positive start to 2026, and keep their title hopes In Bloom.
A 4-0 win over Newport Pagnell Town saw them initially open a 5 point gap at the top but there was Something In The Way the following week, as games at GNG Oadby Town and the title clash at March Town United fell foul of the freezing conditions. March closed the gap to 2 points with a win over Eynesbury Rovers on Tuesday night, albeit from having played 2 more games.
Nirvana sit in 11th with 8 wins, 7 draws and 8 defeats, and Saturday will be their first match of the year, having not played since 27th December when they beat Aylestone Park 3-0. They are actually on a 6 game unbeaten run since they lost 6-0 at home to March at the start of November, a run that has surged them up to mid-table. Nuneaton themselves are on a 5 game league win streak since losing to Histon, so a competitive match is expected.
Callum Carsley's sumptuous long range strike sealed the points back when the two teams last met in August, following Kyle Jardine's first half opener, Evandro Sanches reduced the deficit but Town held on for the points, before rather interesting post-match scenes.
Although Sahel Yessen's short stay with Nuneaton is over for this season, they are boosted by the signing of full back Kamol Campbell and full back/winger Courtney-Joshua Nyakuhwa.
