Nuneaton Town continue their November with a trip to the outskirts of Nottingham to face Long Eaton on Saturday afternoon.
A run of 3 straight defeats was ended by a win over Coventry United last Saturday, but Town couldn't find a way through a stubborn Corby Town defence on Tuesday evening as they recorded a first draw of the season in a goalless encounter.
Saturday sees Nuneaton play another of the bottom four, and it's a first ever visit to Long Eaton United for a Nuneaton Town or Borough team, after the two other meetings between the sides took place at Manor Park and Liberty Way respectively.
Nuneaton are still sweating on the fitness of midfield duo Declan Somel and Caine Elliott, with Bradley Stretton still a long term absentee, but otherwise have a full squad to choose from.
Long Eaton have picked up just 11 points from their 16 games so far, after finishing in 10th last season. However last time out they picked up an impressive 3-1 win at Boldmere St Michael's and will be looking to get themselves closer to safety.
Who will win the 'Battle of the Eatons' on Saturday?
About our opponents:
Long Eaton Town were formed in 1949 after Long Eaton St Helens had disbanded 24 years earlier, but financial problems lead to a replacement club Long Eaton United in 1956. After making their way through various midland based leagues, they were promoted to Step 4 as champions of the UCL Premier North in 2022, and earned back to back promotions the following season by winning the NPL Division 1 East play offs with two penalty shootouts to earn their place in the Southern Premier League Central for 2023-24. They were relegated along with Nuneaton Borough that season and have been in the NPL Division 1 Midlands since. They have played at Grange Park since the early 50s having formerly played at the Recreation Ground. Long Eaton have never reached the first round proper of the FA Cup or FA Trophy, but did reach the FA Vase quarter finals in 2020-21.
