We are back at the Oval for our third league game of the season to face March Town United in what is shaping up to be a tough test. This follows our FA Cup exit on Saturday away at higher league opposition Coleshill Town. Town will be looking to get back to winning ways and pick up our third league win in a row after wins away at Newport Pagnell Town and at home against GNG Oadby Town.
Our opponents:
March Town United, nicknamed 'the Hares', were established as March Town in 1885, playing in the Peterborough & District League and Cambridgeshire League in the early 20th century. In 1948 March Town were promoted to the United Counties League. And having moved to March GER United's ground in 1950 they were renamed March Town United.
The Hares have reached the FA Cup 1st Round twice, in 1955-56 they lost to Brentford, and in 1978-79 to Swindon Town. They also reached the FA Vase 4th round last season as they eventually lost in the play offs to Rugby Borough.
So far this season in the league, the Hares have picked up one win (1-0 against Lutterworth Town at home) and one draw (1-1 away at Histon). They have progressed to the Preliminary Round in the FA Cup after beating Soham Town Rangers 4-1 away in a replay on Tuesday night.
Previous meetings: None
Last season finishing position: United Counties League Premier South (4th - lost in the play offs)
We look forward to welcoming all of the players, staff and fans of March Town United to the Oval on Saturday
