Nuneaton Town head to Northamptonshire for the second consecutive league game to play Northampton ON Chenecks on Tuesday night. Town sit top of the league with on 36 points, whilst the Chenecks are in 9th on 23 points. Nuneaton returned to winning ways on Saturday against Daventry after slipping to their first league defeat of the season on Wednesday last week away at Easington Sports, and the Chenecks beat Easington Sports 3-0 away from home. Over the last six league games, the Chens have won 4 and lost 2, whereas Town have won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1. Therefore, it is looking like it will be a close encounter. Town will be looking to build on their four point lead at the top of the league, with second placed Aylestone Park not playing midweek and 3rd placed March Town have a tricky home game against 5th placed Histon.

History:

Established in 1946, the Chens are a branch of the Old Northamptonians Association created in 1919 in memorial to 94 old Northampton Grammar School staff and students who lost their lives in World War One. The football club was created with the name Chenecks, which is a combination of the 4 house names, Chipseys, Spencer, Beckett and St Crispins.

They became a senior side in 1950. They officially fell under the Old Northamptonians bracket in 1960 and moved to the Billing Road Sports Ground. They joined the United Counties League in 1969 and have been there ever since.

After installing floodlights in 2014, to enable them to participate in FA competitions, they had their best FA Vase run last season, reaching the Third Round.
