It's last chance saloon as Nuneaton Town travel to Northampton Sileby Rangers on Saturday afternoon looking to finally get over the line and seal the United Counties League Premier South title.
With a 3-0 loss to Coventry United on Monday, coupled with a 1-0 win for Atherstone Town, Nuneaton still require a win to guarantee the title on Saturday and avoid a nervous wait for the Adders to complete their own fixture list. In a quirk of the scheduling, Atherstone have two further games to play after Saturday, which could decide the title if Nuneaton don't manage to end a run of 6 games without a win, and 3 games without a goal.
The title situation -
If Nuneaton win - they are champions
If Nuneaton draw - Atherstone can win the league with 3 wins if they can overhaul a gap of 18 in goal difference
If Nuneaton lose - Atherstone would win the title with 3 wins.
If Atherstone fail to win any of their 3 remaining games against Histon (a), Daventry Town (h), or Easington Sports (a) - Nuneaton are champions whatever Saturday's result.
Nuneaton's final opponents sit in 17th place, and have won just 5 of their 18 home games so far. Remarkably their last 5 scorelines have all ended with neither team scoring twice, so it's likely to be a close one.
The visitors can take confidence from a 4-0 home victory against their opponents earlier in the season, as goals from Loyiso Recci, Kyle Jardine, Kai Thomas and Aaron Williams capped a strong performance at The Oval in September.
It's set to be a Sileby Saturday Showdown in Northamptonshire, and the lads will need the terrific backing of the Nuneaton faithful once again to complete the job at the final time of asking.
