Nuneaton Town make a third attempt to play their league game away at GNG Oadby Town on Tuesday night.
The match comes a few weeks after their surprise 3-1 FA Vase defeat at the same venue, and Nuneaton will be looking to both seek vengeance, and extend their lead at the top to 10 points with 2nd placed March Town United not in action.
Nuneaton come here in excellent form having won every game since that defeat, extending their perfect 2026 to 4 matches with an eventful 5-2 win over Eynesbury Rovers. An injury to the referee meant the game was stopped for over half an hour while a replacement official was sourced, with Nuneaton also having to come from behind after an early Eynesbury goal. A Loyiso Recci header and a Kai Thomas rebound quickly turned the lead in Nuneaton's favour before the break in play. Eesa Sawyers side foot effort and James Harrison's curler from the edge of the box were possibly two of Nuneaton's latest ever first half goals, before Kyle Jardine replied to Eynesbury's consolation goal in the dying minutes.
Oadby won the battle of the bottom two 2-1 over Bugbrooke St Michael's on Saturday, with a double from Rizvan Hussain, and their games in hand could prove the difference between playing in the United Counties Premier Division South or Division 1 next season, with 5 points to make up on Northampton Sileby Rangers and 3 games in hand.
Oadby currently sit in 19th with 4 wins, 4 draws and 16 losses, and no longer have top scorer Mario Mendez at the club after he moved to Barwell a couple of weeks ago. However full concentration is needed to make it 9 league wins on the spin, and with just 10 more needed at most to secure back to back league titles and get the club back to Step 4 at the earliest opportunity, Nuneaton will not want to let up.
