Nuneaton Town start their competitive season on Saturday afternoon as they make the trip to Hereford to face Westfields FC. Unusually it's a cup game to start the season as they enter the FA Cup at the Extra Preliminary Round stage.

Westfields play in the Hellenic League Premier Division, one level below Nuneaton. They have already started their league campaign, a 2-1 win at Malmesbury Victoria on Saturday, and are playing Longlevens on Wednesday night, with Saturday's FA Cup clash their first home game.

Nuneaton have several new squad changes since their last competitive game, with notable departures including Kyle Jardine, Callum Carsley, Loyiso Recci, and Michael McGrath, who will be quickly reunited with his old teammates as he has signed for Westfields. However Nuneaton have significantly boosted their squad, with incoming players including goalkeeper Finn Osborn, defenders Josh Green, Harry Chesterton, Aaron Roberts and Luke Softley, midfielders James Armson, Bradley Stretton and Caine Elliott, and forwards Terry Atem, Liam Murphy and Jay Snook. The latter signed on loan from Shrewsbury Town this week, and we are grateful to former Boro player Gavin Cowan, now manager at Shrewsbury, for allowing us to have Jay on loan this season.

The winner of Saturday's match will play the winner of Sporting Club Inkberrow and Rugby Borough, who play at the same time.
