Nuneaton Town play their second home game in three days on Tuesday night as they host Corby Town at The Oval.
Nuneaton ended a run of three straight defeats on Saturday afternoon as they ended a mixed October with a 3-1 victory over local rivals Coventry United with goals from Luke Softley, Jacob Shilton and Eesa Sawyers, and will be looking to add to that victory on Tuesday as they play a Corby Town side currently residing in the bottom four.
The Steelmen sit in 20th, with 2 wins, 6 draws and 8 defeats. They have yet to win an away game but have picked up 4 points from their last 2 games with no goals conceded, a 2-0 home win over Mickleover and a home 0-0 draw with Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday.
Who will create the fireworks to start November?
About our opponents:
Corby Town, nicknamed The Steelmen after the strong steelworks connections in the town, were formed in 1948, overtaking Stewarts & Lloyds as the main team in the town and joined the United Counties League. After back to back titles in the early 50s, they joined the Midland League and were only beaten to the title on the final day. They made several failed applications to the football league in the 50s and 60s, and after remaining in the Southern League divisions for much of the next 40 years, they were promoted to the Conference North for 2009-10 after winning the Southern League Premier in 2008-09, the season before Nuneaton were promoted from it themselves. The club bounced between the Conference North and the Southern Premier over the next few seasons, however successive relegations saw them drop to Step 4, and they've been in the NPL Division 1 Midlands since league restructuring in 2021. They finished 13th in the league last season.
The Steelmen originally played at Occupation Road, then moved to the Rockingham athletics stadium in 1985, before moving next door to the purpose built Steel Park in 2011.
