After a mixed October that saw 4 victories and 3 defeats, Matt Jones looks ahead to November's fixtures:
Tuesday 3rd November - Corby Town (h) NPL Division 1 Midlands
Corby Town are the first of 3 visitors to the Oval in a month with only 5 games scheduled, The Steelmen have had a difficult start to the season notching just two home victories in the opening 16 games and sit in 20th place, although have had a win and a draw in their last two games before tonight's clash. The two sides meet for the first time since 2016 when both sides were in the National League North.
Saturday 7th November - Long Eaton United (a) - NPL Division 1 Midlands
Address: Grange Park, Station Road, Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, NG10 2EF
Nuneaton's first away trip of the month is to another of the division's bottom four clubs, Long Eaton United. The two sides have met before in 2023/24 when an August encounter was won 2-1 by goals from Alex Lafleur and Matty Stenson (and also met once in the FA Cup winning 2-0 at Manor Park in 1971), however this is a first ever visit to Long Eaton for the club as the away game scheduled never took place due to Nuneaton Borough withdrawing from the league beforehand.
Long Eaton sit in 21st place with 3 wins in 16, the last of those being an impressive 3-1 win at Boldmere St Michaels on Halloween Saturday
Tuesday 17th November - FC Stratford (h) - Birmingham Senior Cup 2nd Round
After a 10 day break, Nuneaton get their Birmingham Senior Cup campaign under way with the visit of FC Stratford to The Oval. The away side sit 18th out of 19 teams in the United Counties League Premier South, after transferring over from the Hellenic League, with their only away success so far a 1-0 win over the side immediately below them, Highgate United, in the first round of the BSC. FC Stratford groundshare with Stratford Town. It's a first ever meeting between the two sides.
Saturday 21st November - Mickleover (a) - NPL Division 1 Midlands
Address: Mickleover Sports Club, Station Road, Mickleover, Derby, DE3 9FE
Nuneaton get back to their league campaign with a tricky visit to Mickleover. This is the first team that will have been played twice this season, after Mickleover won 3-1 on the opening day at The Oval. Mickleover's strong start to the season tailed off somewhat and they slid down the table in September, however 3 wins in the last 4 games of October has seen them within sight of the play offs again, sitting in 10th and just a point off the top 7. So it will be an important game for Nuneaton to get something from.
Saturday 28th November - Carlton Town (h) - NPL Division 1 Midlands
Nuneaton round out the month with another of the play off contenders, this time at home, with Carlton Town the visitors. As at the end of October Carlton sat in 3rd in the table one point ahead of Nuneaton. Carlton will be looking for revenge for their 2-0 defeat earlier in the season, with former Boro players Dan Jezeph and Ashley Chambers at both ends of the field. Carlton had an unbeaten October that brought them back into the top 3 after a difficult start to the season, and are expected to be tough to complete the double over.
