Nuneaton Town re-enter the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday night. They in fact open this season's competition as they face Dudley Town at The Oval.

After the competition's first season without Nuneaton representation in decades last season, as Nuneaton Town instead competed in, and reached the final of, the Birmingham Midweek Floodlit Challenge Cup, losing out to Cradley Town at Walsall's Bescot Stadium, Nuneaton Town once again step up to potentially face the non-league elite and football league youth of the West Midlands.

To reach that stage they will have to negotiate Round 1, which contains just the local Step 5 sides. Dudley Town sit 9th in the Midland Football League Premier, with 4 wins 2 draws and 2 defeats, and remain in both the FA Vase and the Midland Football League Cup.

Harry Crook and Matthew Funge are Dudley's 2 danger men, with 7 and 6 goals respectively.

Can Nuneaton Town continue their 4-way quest for trophies?

History:

Dudley Town known as the Robins, were established all the way back in 1888, merging with Dudley St John's in 1898, moving into their Shavers End ground. Although dormant after World War I they reformed in 1928, reaching the Worcestershire Combination and moving into the Sports Ground in 1932.

The club folded before World War II but was reformed again shortly after it, reaching the West Midlands Regional League. They famously took York City to a replay in the 1976-77 FA Cup, and after reaching the Southern League in 1982 for the first time. Disaster struck in 1985 as old mining works collapsed near the ground condemning it to closure.

Since then they have played at the Round Oak Stadium in Brierley Hill, along with groundshares with Halesowen Town, Gornal Athletic, Tividale, Stourbridge, before returning to Brierley Hill in 2007. They reformed again in 1997 after financial difficulties.

Like Nuneaton Town, Dudley Town still remain without a permanent home. They currently groundshare with Sporting Khalsa, who play at the former Willenhall Town ground in Noose Lane.

They have won the Birmingham Senior Cup once, in 1985-86.
