Its 1st v 2nd in the GCE Hire United Counties League Premier South on Saturday afternoon at The Oval as Nuneaton Town host Moulton in a crucial match.

Both sides, promoted from Step 6 last season have made terrific starts in Step 5, and will be looking to continue at the expense of the other.

Nuneaton Town nearly lost their unbeaten record on Tuesday at home to Lutterworth Athletic as the Swifts took an early 2-0 lead, before a goal of the season contender from Callum Carsley on his return to the side, followed by a late equaliser from Kyle Jardine, saved a point, although it was Nuneaton's first dropped points this season.

Moulton had already played their 8th game, so had a midweek rest. They sit 6 points behind Nuneaton with 5 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. Those defeats came away at Yaxley and Leicester Nirvana, and their draw at home to Godmanchester Rovers. Like Nuneaton, they remain in the FA Vase and United Counties League Cup and have British Airways and Pinchbeck United at home in the next rounds respectively.

Nathanael Ansu is their biggest goal threat with 8 goals so far this season.

History:

Moulton FC, known as The Magpies due to their black and white strips, were formed all the way back in 1896, but most of their history has been spent playing local football in the Northamptonshire Combination.

They have invested in their facilities at Brunting Road in the last 6-7 years to add a 3G pitch, and community facilities, and they reached the Spartan South Midlands Division 1 for the 2022-23 season. They beat Step 6s 2nd highest scorers Desborough Town in a surprise play off final result last season, and play at Step 5 for the first ever time this season.
