Tonight Nuneaton Town make the first of at least three trips to Sutton Coldfield for their fourth preseason friendly, as they face Sutton United.

Nuneaton have had mixed fortunes so far in their first 3 friendlies, conceding the first goal in all, but have come back to win two of those, against Step 3 side Stratford Town and Step 5 side Hinckley, but unfortunately couldn't find their way past a solid AFC Telford United defence on Saturday, losing 1-0 to the Step 2 side.

Sutton United, former Midland League Division 1 opponents of Town two seasons ago, followed Nuneaton out of the league last season as they beat Gornal Athletic in the play off final, and will compete in the Midland Premier League this season, their first as a Step 5 club.

Sutton suffered a 3-0 home defeat to fellow NPL Division 1 Midlands side and local rivals Boldmere St Michael's on Saturday.

Nuneaton hope to continue their solid preseason preparations as they welcome two new signings, forward Terry Atsu and full back Josh Green.

Our opponents:

Formed in 1947 by 3 colleagues of the RAF, Sutton United have played at 5 different grounds in their history. Initially playing at Cows Lane, Wylde Green, they then moved to Penns Lane in Sutton Coldfield, followed by a move to Rectory Park. They purchased the rugby ground of Sutton Coldfield at Hollyfield Road in the late 90s, before moving to their current site at Coleshill Road in 2016. Since then they have added multiple facilities to ensure a continued income stream throughout the year. Their record attendance was an FA Vase 4th Round defeat to Bourne Town in 2024-25.
