Nuneaton Town return to league action on Saturday looking to close further on the title as they host Eynesbury Rovers.
A rare dip in form has seen Nuneaton struggle the last couple of weeks, with an injury time Kyle Jardine goal needed to beat 10 man Daventry Town in the last completed league game, a 2-1 pre-abandonment deficit to March Town United, and a makeshift home defence was brushed aside 5-1 by Coalville Town in a dominant first half to end the remaining double hopes.
However Nuneaton remain in a strong position with just 7 points required from their remaining 6 games to seal a second successive league title and promotion, and could open up the opportunity to win the league next week if results go in their favour.
One positive for Nuneaton has been the return to form of top scorer Kyle Jardine, who has 10 goals in his last 6 games in all competitions, and the Town will be hoping he continues to bang in the goals for the remainder of the season.
Last time the sides met just 7 weeks ago, an early Eynesbury goal was quickly overturned by 2 goals for Town only for an injury to happen to the referee which delayed the game by nearly 45 minutes while a replacement was sourced. When the game resumed Nuneaton found another 2 goals before half time, James Harrison's effort possibly the latest first half goal Nuneaton have ever scored! A late consolation by Eynesbury was followed by a 5th in stoppage time for Town in a game that finally finished just short of 6pm. Fans will be hoping for a slightly earlier finish on Saturday!
Eynesbury Rovers have picked up some good form since losing at home to the Town, winning 5, drawing 1 and losing 1, a run that has risen them up the table into the top half, albeit a little too late to push for the play offs. They now sit in 10th in the table with 14 wins, 4 draws and 14 defeats, with a stronger away record than home - 8 wins, 1 draw and 7 defeats, scoring 36 goals - the most by any side away from home in the division. It all points to a possible high scoring affair.
It's a crucial game, and with 3 on the road to follow before the Easter weekend double derbies against Atherstone Town and Coventry United, the team needs you to be loud, proud and numerous once again.
